Doug Hartke and Island Grove Brute winning the USCSDA National Championship

Doug and his father started by raising over 30,000 bobwhite quail over the last 25 years, and Doug has been around bird-dogs since he was old enough to walk. He ran in his first field trial when he was 13 years old, with a granddaughter of Redwater Rex. Doug was the co-owner and founder of Ambraw Valley Outdoors Hunting Preserve from 1993 to 2000 where he held several walking and horseback trials. Doug started working dogs for the public in 1994 at the Preserve. Doug was guiding hunts four or five times a week and he started to produce a tough classy guide dog. These hunts became a training tool for his bloodline of champion dogs. Island Grove Kennels offers classy, hard hunting preserve dogs with the style that it takes to win the United States Complete Shooting Dog Association 2001 National Title. Our dogs can handle the collar and the pressures of preserve hunting, yet maintain their staunchness and style. At outdoor shows you may see dogs that are creeping and flagging, but not Island Grove Kennel dogs. Doug has always prided himself in producing a dog that is easy to look at, but can handle different types of situations. With the blood lines Doug has developed, his work ethic, his experience in hunting and training, he can provide you with a bird-dog of USCSDA award winning quality!
